Acacia…With its strong roots and tenacious nature, Acacia tree; adapts to various geographies and climates, and it is spread out to all over the world. That is why, has the same name in almost every language.

Starting from the ancient times, seeds of carob tree, which belongs to the same plant family  with Acacia, were used as units of weight for precious stones because of their constant size and weight.
The seeds which are called as “keration” by Greeks are diffused to all Mediterranean countries by the Arabian merchants who named them as“kirrat”.
That’s the story of “carato” for Italians, “karat” for Germans and “carat” for French and English people.
